Clayton is located 34 miles outside of San Francisco and 25 miles outside of Oakland. Giving its residents access to a big city but still having the feeling of small-town community living. Clayton was founded by Joel Henry Clayton in 1857 and in 1964 Clayton became officially incorporated. To this day Clayton still incorporates its history and characteristics the founders held true to heart in 1857. However, Clayton is now home to a variety of annual traditions such as the annual Rib Cook-off, the Oktoberfest celebration, and Concerts in The Grove summer series. These activities and many more are perfect to spend time with friends and family.
Clayton is a safe and small community with neighbors who turn into family. Children tend to go to the same schools together and Clayton is home to 3 different public schools.
