The city of Concord is in Contra Costa County and has a colorful past, previously named Drunken Indian and Todos Santos. Concord has the distinction of being the largest city in the county.

Its calling card is the large plaza that anchors the downtown, an entire city block, known for its farmer’s market, free concerts, and its own restaurant row. This area is also livable with condominiums and apartments developed to take advantage of the square without driving.

Known as a bedroom community of San Francisco and Oakland, Concord is coming into its own. The city has seen an influx of jobs and large companies are calling Concord home. Top employers include Bank of America, Wells Fargo, John Muir Health, Chevron Credit Center, BEI, Macy’s, and AT&T.

Residents are served by the Mount Diablo Unified School District. De La Salle High School has won 12 California North Coast Sectional Championships in football and was named national champion five times (four times by USA Today and once by ESPN). Freeway access is a snap, Interstate 680 and State Highways 4 and 242 serve as major arterials. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) also offers transportation to San Francisco and the East Bay.
