The City of Lafayette is nestled in a little valley in Contra Costa County. This little city of only 23,000 residents is known for the upscale lifestyle of its residents. Lafayette has been through several name changes – from having no name to Brown’s Mill, Brown’s Corner, Acalanus, Dog Town, and Centerville. Even after the name was decided – it was changed again, from LaFayette to its current Lafayette.

Only 25 minutes east of San Francisco, a wealth of recreational, entertainment and shopping venues are within easy reach. The Lafayette Reservoir, a 92-acre site is open to public recreation with hiking, fishing, boating, and picnicking facilities. Stocked by the State Department of Fish and Game, thousands of trout, bluegill, black bass, black crappie, and catfish call the reservoir home. Privately owned rowboats, canoes, kayaks & sailboats are allowed at the reservoir. Rowboats and pedal boats are available for rent from the activity center. Surrounding the reservoir is picnic sites for families and groups and can be reserved in advance for a small fee.
